OUR PRODUCTION GARDENS
Supporting Local Food Pantries
In addition to the Public Access Gardens, we also manage production gardens to support local food pantries, to provide fresh produce for the Giving Gardens Share Space at First Presbyterian Church and to sell locally as a source of organizational income. These gardens are on private property, and not open to the public.

The Giving Gardens
SHARE SPACE
The Share Space is a wooden structure located at the First Presbyterian Church Giving Garden where we regularly bring produce and encourage others to share excess produce that they grow.
Educational and Community
PROGRAMS
The most important thing that we grow at the Giving Gardens is gardeners! We support people who want to garden at home and in their neighborhoods in a number of ways:
-
Gardeners from around the region come to our annual event to pick up some free garden seed, make their own seedling blocks and to share some of the special seed varieties that grow best in their own gardens. The event has grown each year, and in 2025, about 70 people participated!
-
At the Giving Gardens, the most important thing that we grow is new gardeners. In April, we host a two part, 6 hour garden workshop designed to help people new to gardening get started and to help experienced gardeners take the next steps. If you want to discover the secrets of success of the Giving Gardens, you’ll want to join us for our intensive gardening workshops.
-
We create instructional videos on all things garden related on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Many videos are short, providing quick insights into how we manage our gardens, some of our best tips and tricks, and what we do on a weekly basis. We are also working on a more in-depth curriculum that contains all our gardening knowledge from start to finish. These videos will guide people interested in starting a Giving Garden in their community.

We love to talk about our work! Please contact us if you would like to bring the Giving Gardens to present to your organization.
